| Yep,
10 years man. TEN! YEARS!
Since Rick Coughlin, Tim Taylor,
Steve McCluskey, Nick Muce and I (Michael Pandiscio) sat in my
recording studio, frustrated over the fact many people had already used the
name "Super Genius" and we couldn't. Nick, in utter frustration,
cursed "here's what I think of thinking of a new name, care factor zero, I
don't give a shit what we call it!" Everyone said "YES!" and the
name was born. |

| This
band has had many faces and styles intermingled over the years. We started
out playing stuff like The Bare Naked Ladies, lots of Violent Femmes stuff,
Grateful Dead and other classic rock. The period after Daryl Sabine and
Peter Waters joined up we could
play Paul Simon one minute and Limp Biscuit the next. Whatever we needed to
do to keep people dancing. This is probably my fondest incantation besides
where we are at now. . Our signature closer then was "Gloria". Our last gig
there in that formation on Sept 9, 2001 was insane. We did Gloria and Daryl
broke the neck of his guitar. Very memorable. That same era we
released "Simmer Down'. Tuesdays at The Woodshed, house band at The Sou'wester with Greg and Bobby. Great times.
When Eric Short joined up we went a little more punk putting stuff like Blink 182 and The Ramones into the sets along with my usual choices of BNL, Dead ect.. We kept a more modern rock feel with Matt Pawloski on guitar, then we shifted back to more groove rock when Pokey returned and Alex Pashoian and Dave Barrett joined the band. We would go from Pink Floyds "Pigs" to Black Sabbath's "Fairies Wear Boots" to JGB. Alex left and we tried out a few new guitarists but decided to remain a 4 piece with me as the only 6 string player and adding keyboardist Brett Ginter instead, playing Jerry Garcia Band, Taj Mahal and other songs out of my personal favorite list. Me playing lead has been fun and an adventure and I wouldn't have it any other way now. Lots of guys have come and gone, a few hard feelings here and there. All in all I wouldn't change much. I've played with some incredible musicians and made some really good friends. This band has become a reflection of what I like musically and plus to have a really great group of guys makes the whole trip pretty cool. Here's to the next 10! Mike |
